Stephen West is a postdoctoral researcher at the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre, University of Calgary. Stephen completed his PhD at the University of Bath in 2019 which focused on athlete management in professional rugby union players.

While completing his PhD, he was also the lead researcher on the Professional Rugby Injury Surveillance Project which is a collaboration between the sports governing bodies in England and the University of Bath. This project is the world largest and longest standing surveillance project in the sport and provides critical epidemiological data to inform injury prevention strategies in the sport.

He has also previously worked at the Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, Ireland as well as the Sport Science Institute of South Africa in Cape Town.
